The 22-year-old Uruguayan midfielder makes the leap to one of the elite teams in European football after a tremendous season at Sporting Lisbon.

Paris Saint-Germain officially announced the arrival of Uruguayan Manuel Ugarte, who is joining from Sporting Portugal until June 30, 2028.

The Uruguayan midfielder moved to play for the French giant, who according to press reports, paid 60 million euros for the former Fénix player's transfer.

"I am sincerely delighted to reach this milestone in my career, in such a great club. I will give my all for Paris Saint-Germain," said the new owner of the number 4 jersey for the Parisian team.

Manuel Ugarte, 22 years old, jumps to one of Europe's elite teams after a great season at Sporting where he played 47 games and accumulated 3,567 minutes. The Uruguayan was a starter in all six of his club's UEFA Champions League group stage matches, as well as in the four Europa League games they played, where they were eliminated in the quarterfinals against Juventus.

The Uruguayan national team midfielder, who played in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, made his professional debut in December 2016, at only 15 years and 8 months old. At the end of 2020, he signed with FC Famalicão, where he played 27 games and scored 1 goal against Rio Ave FC.

It took Manuel Ugarte just seven months to arrive at Sporting as one of the most promising midfielders in world football. Just a few weeks before playing his first minutes for the Lisbon club, he made his debut for the Celeste against Bolivia (a 4-2 victory on September 6, 2021).

At PSG, Ugarte will face tough competition for a place in the midfield, as the French team has players such as Marco Verratti, Vitinha, Renato Sanches, Danilo Pereira, Fabián Ruiz, or Carlos Soler for the pivot or central midfielder positions in the team now managed by Luis Enrique.
