The Winter Bonus is one of the economic benefits provided in Chile, but it has been doubled in 2023, according to the measure announced by the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric. What is the amount of the doubled Winter Bonus 2023?
With the increase of the Winter Bonus, beneficiaries who received 70,000 pesos in the past month of May will receive an additional 60,000 pesos in the month of June, an important complement that will benefit millions of Chileans once the bill is approved in Congress. Remember that the exact amount of the Winter Bonus in May was 74,767 pesos and was given to 1.6 million people in Chile.
What did Gabriel Boric say about the Winter Bonus 2023?
On June 1st, the President of Chile gave his second State of the Union address, where he detailed that the Winter Bonus would experience a significant increase compared to the amount that was given in May: "I trust that this project will be processed quickly by Congress and I believe that no one could oppose something of these characteristics, which directly helps older people," said Boric.
When is the Winter Bonus given? Payment dates
It should be noted that, if this bill is approved, the additional Winter Bonus will be paid along with the pension payment date. This will be a one-time payment through the cancellation of the May 2023 pension. However, the supplement to reach 120,000 pesos will be provided in June to all beneficiaries as there is no confirmed date yet.

You must go to the official website of https://www.chileatiende.gob.cl/, enter your RUT information, and check if you are one of the beneficiaries who will receive more than 130,000 Chilean pesos for the month of June.
Who are the beneficiaries of the Winter Bonus 2023?
- Pensioners of the Instituto de Previsión Social, the Instituto de Seguridad Laboral, the Cajas de Previsión, and the Mutualidades de Empleadores de la ley Nº16.744, whose pensions are equal to or lower than the minimum old age pension value of article 26 of ley Nº15.386, for pensioners aged 75 or over at the time of benefit payment.
- Pensioners of the system established in decree law Nº3.500, of 1980, who are receiving minimum pensions with state guarantee, in accordance with title VII of said legislation.
- Pensioners of the system established in the aforementioned decree law who are receiving a solidarity old age pension contribution, whose pensions are equal to or lower than the minimum old age pension value of article 26 of ley Nº15.386, for pensioners aged 75 or over at the time of benefit payment.
- Beneficiaries of the universal guaranteed pension, provided they are not entitled to another pension under any pension scheme.
- Pensioners from any pension scheme who are additionally receiving a universal guaranteed pension and whose pensions are equal to or lower than the minimum old age pension value of article 26 of ley Nº15.386, for pensioners aged 75 or over at the time of benefit payment.
