It took a year for Gianfranco Chávez to score again with the Sporting Cristal jersey. This Sunday, the 'celeste' academy player scored an important goal: it served to seal the match (3-0) against Unión Comercio, for the second matchday of Torneo Clausura 2023 of Liga 1 Betsson. He received a good cross from Washington Corozo and only had to push the ball into the net defended by Ronald Ruiz.
His last goal had been against Sport Huancayo, for the first matchday of Torneo Clausura 2022. Also, against 'Poderoso de San Martín', he scored his eighth goal as a 'cervecero'. It is his first goal of the season and he will come with more confidence and in good spirits to the next match against Alianza Lima.
Chávez has earned a place in the starting eleven of Tiago Nunes. He has only missed three games in 2023: against Deportivo Garcilaso, Sport Boys, and Fluminense. He has shown to be good in defense and also knows how to join the attack. His presence will be key in the match against the 'blanquiazules'.
Sporting Cristal vs. Unión Comercio: what's next for them
After this match for the second matchday of Torneo Clausura 2023, Sporting Cristal will play again next week when they have to visit Alianza Lima for the third matchday.
