Sport Boys struggling in the Second Division
The situation of Sport Boys in the Second Division tournament is becoming more complicated. The pink team drew 0-0 against Deportivo Coopsol in the sixth round and is currently in the penultimate position of the table with only 5 points, four more than bottom-placed Unión Tarapoto and six points behind the leader Sport Victoria. And after the match, an unusual event occurred: captain Jorge Huamán announced his retirement due to lack of support from the fans.
"Today, my friends, I say goodbye to what I love the most in life. I have thought about it a lot and I have made up my mind. I apologize to my teammates and friends, but I have lost, won, suffered, cried, and laughed, always feeling accompanied. However, today I felt like the loneliest man in the world due to the lack of support we had in our stands," wrote Jorge Huamán through his official Facebook account.
Later, the 39-year-old defender added: "Thanks to those who always stood by us, thanks to the 'Juventud Rosada' for all the support, thanks to my family for unconditionally supporting me despite all the suffering. Thank you Sport Boys, because you were my home for a long time, although I would have liked to end as I should: being a champion. And please, I'm not leaving because of money, even though I need it, I'm leaving because we are alone, we are a handful of fans, players, partners, etc. Still, I leave eternally grateful to all the chalacos and especially to my club, thank you..."
It is important to remember that this week, the Sport Boys team staged a sit-in along with the coaching staff at the sports complex of Callao. Depor was able to learn that the reason was the club's failure to make payments since March. In addition to this, the team now receives little support from the fans.
