YG Entertainment announced that the exclusive contract with G-Dragon expired on June 6th. A few days ago, there were rumors about this event, as the name of the Idol was not listed in the K-pop company's artist roster.

The artist's original name, had promoted new projects with the South Korean agency at the beginning of the year, which generated confusion among the most loyal fans of BIG BANG.
The Idol has been with YG Entertainment since 2006, when he debuted as the leader of the boyband in 2006. Days before, TOP, another member of the group, had announced his departure from the agency, so all the members of the Korean group would be out of the company.
What did YG Entertainment say?
Despite the news, YG Entertainment said that it plans to discuss an additional contract with G-Dragon when he resumes his musical activities. They also mentioned that they will still be working on other activities with G-Dragon, especially in the artist's marketing.
"G-Dragon's exclusive contract with us has expired, but we are collaborating with him through a separate contract for his other activities, such as advertising, among other points," said the music label in a statement.
What will happen to BIG BANG?
G-Dragon was the last member of BIG BANG who had a contract with YG Entertainment, following his fellow members like TOP, who announced his retirement a few days ago. He also hinted through his social media when asked if he was still in the group, to which he replied no.
Taeyang has not renewed his contract for months, but he is still associated with the agency through the producer Teddy, due to their latest project, where he collaborated with Lisa from BLACKPINK and Jim from BTS under The Black Label. Daesung is also not part of YG's label and now belongs to AR Company.
Top no longer wants to be associated with BIG BANG, as shown by his posts and comments on his Instagram, which demonstrate that he is already focused on his work as a solo artist. Many V.I.P's, fans of the boyband, have expressed their support on social media for each decision made by the artists.
