The Disciplinary Commission of the FPF has opened a process against four clubs for not signing with 1190 Sports, stating that this stance "weakens the strategic planning of national soccer."

On Friday, May 2, the Disciplinary Commission of the FPF opened a process against four Peruvian football clubs: Alianza Lima , Cienciano , Deportivo Binacional , and FBC Melgar . This action was taken after a complaint made by the General Secretariat of the Peruvian football governing body. What was the reason? It is due to the rejection of signing and acknowledging the holder of the broadcasting rights of the Liga 1 Betsson . In other words, for not signing the contract with 1190 Sports.

Through an official letter, the FPF argued that the position of these four institutions "weakens the strategic planning of national soccer that involves all members of the national federative system".

For this reason, the Disciplinary Commission of the national soccer governing body decided to initiate "a disciplinary procedure" for a supposed violation of the Statutes of the Peruvian Football Federation and the current Unique Justice Regulations.

In the letter, they also indicate that Alianza Lima, Cienciano, Deportivo Binacional, and FBC Melgar could receive harsh sanctions such as "disqualification from ongoing competitions and/or exclusion from future competitions" or "relegation to the immediately lower category". However, the FPF indicated that the four mentioned teams will have up to two business days to present their corresponding defenses in this process.

The struggle for TV rights

Alianza Lima alongside Melgar, Cienciano, Binacional, and Cusco FC, and with Consorcio Fútbol Perú maintain a legal battle against the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF). The top entity of national soccer, through a precautionary measure, prevents the matches of the mentioned four clubs from being broadcasted on the GOLPERU channel, as the FPF argues that the broadcasting rights of Liga 1 belong to them. That is why the blanquiazules and company did not show up in their debut (the third matchday of the championship) and were awarded a 'walk-over', since their matches were not going to be aired and they would be breaching the contract with Consorcio.

The team "íntimo" defends its right to have signed with Consorcio, as it was going to generate millions of dollars for them. However, the FPF remains reluctant in its stance. In order to avoid a second 'WO' and prevent relegation, the teams were forced to show up in the fourth matchday, although their matches were not broadcasted by GOLPERU, due to the precautionary measure. As of today, the institutions, and given the changes made by the FPF to its regulations, allow Liga 1 Max to broadcast their matches, but the judicial process is still pending.
