The Guatemalan national team will not continue with the red team for the next season
GUATEMALA - After a season dressed in red, Antonio de Jesús López announced his departure from Municipal this Friday, so 'Chucho' López will have new air for the next season. The player who came from Mexican soccer in June of last year did not meet the expectation of the scarlet team and said goodbye to the institution.
"Gracias Municipal" along with an emoji, was the message shared by Jesús López on his Instagram story, thanking him for this first experience he had in Guatemalan soccer after his time at Club América and Necaxa in the MX League. It will be in the next few days when the destination of the Guatemalan national team player, who is currently recovering from an injury since last April, is known.
According to what ESPN Digital could find out at the time, Jesús López suffered a sprained posterior cruciate ligament in his left leg and missed the last games of the qualifying phase.
During the Clausura 2023 Tournament, the midfielder had 11 appearances, played 432 minutes, and scored twice under the technical direction of Paraguayan José Saturnino Cardozo.
On the other hand, in the 2022 Apertura Tournament, 'Chucho' López had 26 appearances, played 1,493 minutes, and scored one goal. His signing took place with the arrival of Mexican coach Antonio Torres Servín during last June.
In this way, Jesús López ends his relationship with Municipal and his first adventure in the National Football League. Now he focuses on his full recovery to be available for the National Team of Guatemala during the 2023 Gold Cup that will be played next June.
Jesús López was born in Mexico and trained at Club América, however, due to his grandfather's ancestry, he went through the entire process of documents to be able to play for the Guatemala National Team and since his debut in September 2020 with Amarini Villatoro, he has been present in the calls of the Bicolor.
