Can they do it again? PSG aims to compete in the next season with their main goal: the UEFA Champions League. With Kylian Mbappé as their star player, after the imminent departure of Lionel Messi, the management is already targeting a player who has had an excellent season in Italy: Victor Osimhen is highly liked and is a familiar face to Luis Campos, sporting director, who could accelerate his arrival in Ligue 1.
The Nigerian is one of Campos' favorites, as he took him to Lille for the sum of 20 million and later sold him to Napoli in Italy for 75 million. Osimhen is currently the Serie A champion with 28 goals scored in 36 games, which would help him make the big leap in his career, as well as in his salary: PSG pays more.
Furthermore, his arrival would be a relief for Mbappé, who seems to have asked for a striker for the next season. The forward's idea is to play as a winger, using his speed as a balance point for the benefit of PSG.
What do they need to negotiate?
Napoli has always shown toughness when it comes to negotiations with their president Aurelio de Laurentiis. For Osimhen, they will ask for more than 100 million, a sum that the club would be willing to pay. According to RMC Sports, there is willingness from the Parisians. However, they need to finalize the departures of Neymar or Marco Verratti to give some relief to the club's finances.
The decision will also depend on the forward who, despite not closing the doors to PSG, would prioritize a move to the Premier League. Harry Kane is also an option, but he doesn't seem to convince the club. His arrival would gain more strength if Osimhen rejects the proposal.
More transfer options
If the operations don't work out, there are two more options on the list: Kolo Muani (Eintracht Frankfurt) and Bernardo Silva (Manchester City). Although the latter isn't a striker, PSG has dreamed of him for a long time, and Luis Campos knows him perfectly from his time at Monaco and, especially, after his two goals in the second leg of the Champions League semifinals.
It's no secret that Campos, the club's sports advisor, and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, the president, want to give a new vision to the institution and be considered as the team of the stars. This is to make the plans clearer and for the sporting success not to depend solely on individuals, but specifically on the collective. It won't be an easy task.
