Monterrey vs. Tigres faced each other again in the Liga MX semifinals.

The Tigres UANL coached by Uruguayan Robert Dante Siboldi took advantage of Monterrey's lack of ambition on Saturday and defeated them 0-1 to qualify for the final of Mexico's Clausura 2023.

Sebastián Córdova, who had rescued the 1-1 draw in the first leg of the series on Wednesday, became the hero once again by scoring the winning goal.

In a rainy match, both teams were conservative and did not create danger in the first half, where goalkeepers were not tested.

Forced to win the game to reach the final, Tigres searched for the goal in the second half and had their first shot on target in the 60th minute by Brazilian Rafael Carioca from behind.

In the 72nd minute, Uruguayan Robert Dante Siboldi sent Uruguayan Nicolás López, Mexican Diego López, and Colombian Luis Quiñones onto the field, in a gamble to either kill or be killed in search of the necessary goal to avoid elimination.

While attacking, the visitors left gaps and Monterrey, who had refused to offend, came close to taking the lead with a counterattack by Uruguayan Rodrigo Aguirre, stopped by the defense.

In the 75th minute, in a corner kick, Argentine goalkeeper Nahuel Guzmán made a mistake and was beaten by Héctor Moreno; the goal would have put Rayados in the final, but it was disallowed because the shooter was offside.

Excited because they were still alive, Tigres resumed their attack and in the 79th minute, they scored a goal. Quiñones escaped down the right and crossed the ball to Córdova, who headed it in and beat Argentine goalkeeper Esteban Andrada.

Monterrey, conservative for 80 minutes, was forced to change their stance with little time left and desperately went on the attack, but did so without order.

In the 95th minute, Jordi Cortizo had the goal to secure their spot in the final, however, Córdova and Javier Aquino saved the feline team.

Tigres will face the winner of the America-Guadalajara series in the final, which is currently 1-0 in favor of the Argentinian coach Fernando Ortiz's Águilas.
