Colombian player Edwin Cardona's encounter with a Platense fan goes viral
Racing lost 3-0 in their visit to Platense for the 16th round of the Argentine Professional League and entered a crisis of results by accumulating five games without a win.
Although the defeat took all the attention, there was an encounter between Colombian midfielder Edwin Cardona and a rival fan that went viral.
Before entering the Vicente López Stadium, the Colombian footballer had an encounter with a Platense fan who said to him, "You're fatter than me."
Cardona exchanged glances with the fan and replied, "I have teeth, *******," as he continued walking towards Racing's changing room.
Defeat of the Academy
Platense took advantage of Racing's bad moment and overwhelmed them 3-0 with goals from Gonzalo Valdivia (4), Paraguayan Ronaldo Martínez (24), and Nicolás Servetto (90+5, penalty), the latter after an innocuous foul by Colombian Edwin Cardona.
Winner of the International Supercup a few months ago, and with a good performance in the current Copa Libertadores, Racing is struggling in the league, having lost five of their last six games. They not only said goodbye to the title fight but are now hovering near the bottom of the table.
Cornered by the bad moment, coach Fernando Gago said, "It's a very difficult time. In the last games, we haven't found results or the ambition to recover from adversity. Today we concede a goal after four minutes, these are things that worry, but I didn't think about resigning."
