La Serena had the great opportunity to become the leader of Ascenso Betsson 2023 and did not miss it. The "papayeros" won 4-2 against Barnechea in La Portada and reached the top of the competition.
The opening goal would come at the 16th minute for La Serena thanks to Richard Paredes, who appeared at the far post after a great collective play and cross from Juan Sánchez Sotelo. However, the "Huaicocheros" would quickly equalize the score.
In the 27th minute, Gallegos made a great assist to Christian Bravo, who scored a fantastic goal and equalized the match. But, with little time left in the first half, the home team would tilt the score in their favor again thanks to Santiago Mederos (44'), who scored a remarkable header after a cross from Camilo Rodríguez.
In the second half, the auriazules would attack again and equalized the score 2-2 thanks to the goal by Diego Ulloa, who scored a header at the 62nd minute that overcame goalkeeper Zacarías López. But, Juan José Luvera's players had something more and took the lead thanks to a fantastic goal by Juan Sánchez Sotelo (74'). The forward would increase the score again as the game expired, resulting in a 4-2 victory.
That way, the team from the fourth region earned three points that allow them to climb to the top of the Primera B with 23 points. Meanwhile, Barnechea remains in the bottom part of the table with 11 points.
