AMC declares Rigondeaux as super champion

The Cuban boxer Guillermo Rigondeaux (16-0, 10 KO) had previously been declared champion in recess due to his long inactivity in a boxing ring. But in an interview with espndeportes.com, the president of the WBA, Gilberto Mendoza Jr., said that he declared the Cuban as a super champion recently.

He was an undisputed champion, but since he had not fought for a long time, he had been declared in recess."

First, the boxer known as "El Chacal" had planned to face James Dickens on March 12th, but the fight could not take place due to visa problems. But it seems that now they will do what it takes to make it happen since they mentioned him as one of the possible opponents.

Mendoza Jr. also said that he wants to hold a tournament in order to eliminate the Super Championship and have an Undisputed Champion.

"What we are going to do now is a kind of tournament. The winner of the Rigondeaux vs. Dickens or McDonell fight will face the winner of the Flores vs. Ambunda fight, and then the winner of those fights will face the winner of the Cermeño vs. Xiao fight, leaving us with a single champion."

The Cuban has been without a fight since November 21, 2015. He is an opponent who has a very complicated style for his opponent and very boring for the fans.
