Alianza Lima wanted to get ahead of the facts in 2020 by closing signings to face the First Division the following year and improve their disastrous numbers they had been having, but they never imagined that at the end of the year they would end up descending to Liga 2.
Of the signings that were talked about at that time, two stood out: Alex Valera, who signed a contract but ended up going to Universitario after the club's sporting decline was known, and the Ecuadorian Gabriel Achilier, who arrived as a free player.
The Ecuadorian center-back was somewhat known in Peru for two things: helping our national team win a 2018 qualifying match thanks to a penalty he generated, and for having been Raúl Ruidíaz's teammate in Monarcas Morelia. At that time, he arrived with great enthusiasm to La Victoria to play in Peruvian football.
Achilier began talks with Alianza Lima in the last part of 2020, signing a pre-agreement for two seasons with the 'blanquiazules', where he would return to have football activity, which he had not had since February of that year.
However, the Alianza Lima lost their category and upon arriving in the capital, Achilier stated that "he had no plans to play in the second division" and was loaned to Orense. Currently, at 38 years old, the experienced footballer continues in the 'Vendaval Verde', who already owns his pass letter because he managed to unlink from Alianza Lima. So far he has played four matches in the Ecuadorian Pro League and scored one goal.
Also, his value on the Transfermarkt portal has decreased in recent years from 400 thousand euros to 350 thousand, a small amount compared to other athletes of his age.
