Pending debt in Sullana: this is how the last matches between Alianza Lima and Alianza Atlético were.

Alianza Lima will visit Alianza Atlético with two objectives: to stay at the top of the Apertura Tournament and break the negative streak of not winning in Sullana since 2016.

Alliance Lima will visit Campeones del 36 stadium this Sunday with one goal in mind: defeating Alliance Atlético and staying at the top of the Opening Tournament. If the 'Íntimos' stumble, they will leave the path clear for Universitario de Deportes to climb to the top. That's why it will be crucial for them to defeat the Sullanenses and not lose their way in their fight for the three-peat.

Reviewing the statistical data from the last ten matches between both teams, the balance is very even: five victories for the 'blanquiazules', three for the northerners, and two draws. Although the team from La Victoria has won more times, it's not like they have had a marked superiority over the 'Churres'.

In the most recent duel they held at the Alejandro Villanueva stadium, for the 4th round of the 2022 Clausura Tournament, Alianza Lima had some difficulties but ended up winning 1-0 thanks to Pablo Lavandeira's goal. However, in the 2022 Opening Tournament, Alianza Atlético was far superior and came out on top with a resounding 4-2 victory.

If we go further back, in the 2021 Liga 1, the Victorians did not lose any of their two matches against the Sullanenses: they drew 0-0 in the Opening Tournament and won 1-3 in the Clausura Tournament. However, the difference here is that, although they won away from home, this match was played in Lima and on neutral ground due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Winning in Sullana, a pending task

This Sunday, Alianza Lima will not only seek to stay at the top of the championship but also to break a negative streak: they haven't won in Sullana since the distant May 15, 2016. Back then, in the 1st round of the Opening Tournament, the team then led by Roberto Mosquera took the three points thanks to Pier Larrauri's goal.

Since then, due to the fact that the 'Churres' were in Liga 2 during 2018 and 2019, they have only faced each other three times on Sullanense territory, with a favorable balance for the home team as they won all three matches. In the 2016 Liguilla, they won 4-0, in 2017 they won 1-0, and recently in 2021, they won 4-2. We'll see if Guillermo Salas' team can achieve the feat this weekend.
