Requirements and how long does emergency passport delivery take?

If you are planning to travel and need to get your emergency passport, find out what you need to do and how long it takes to receive the document so you don't have any setbacks.

According to the National Superintendency of Migrations (Migrations), users with international flights, who require the document to be able to leave the country, should not only go to the offices in Breña and the airport to process the paperwork, as there are a total of eight locations in Lima and Callao where the procedure can be done, which may be closer to their homes or workplaces. WHAT DO I NEED TO GET MY EMERGENCY FLIGHT PASSPORT?

In order to apply for the document, you must have the following documentation on hand:

  • Pay the passport fee (S/ 98.60) at Banco de la Nación or págalo.pe (Code to use is 01810).
  • Valid ID card
  • No electoral fines
  • If you are traveling with minors, they must have the permission of one or both parents, as applicable.

HOW MANY HOURS BEFORE MY FLIGHT SHOULD I PROCESS MY PASSPORT?

In the offices of Lima and Callao, as well as in the regional offices, you can process your passport within 48 hours before your flight, while at the Jorge Chávez International Airport office, you can do so within eight hours before your flight's departure.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECEIVE MY PASSPORT?

Once you present your requirements, the process of issuing your electronic passport will begin, where your fingerprints will be recorded and a photo will be taken according to international standards for biometric identification. You can pick up your electronic passport after two hours of completing the process.

WHICH COUNTRIES CAN I TRAVEL TO WITH JUST MY ID CARD?

You don't need a passport to travel to all countries in the region. Thanks to bilateral agreements and agreements with the Andean Community, Peruvians can travel to the following countries with just their ID cards:

  • Bolivia
  • Colombia
  • Ecuador
  • Argentina
  • Brazil
  • Chile
  • Paraguay
  • Uruguay.
