Tito Valenzuela, Asael Sánchez, and Víctor Hugo Mendoza hit home runs for the Fantasmas Grises, with Mendoza driving in three runs.
The Monterrey team scored five runs in the fifth inning to take a 6-3 lead, capped by "El Chule" Mendoza's home run.
Manager Roberto Kelly used seven pitchers: Nicaraguan Juan Carlos Ramírez, Adrián Husman, who allowed six runs, Miguel Aguilar, Norman Elenes, Alexis Vera, Jesús Martínez, and Cuban Jesús Balaguer, who allowed the winning run.
Venezuelan Ricardo Pinto started for the Tecos and was replaced by the winning pitcher. Kennys Vargas hit a two-run home run.
The three-game friendly series will conclude on Sunday at 6:00 PM in Nuevo Laredo, with Dominican pitcher Yennsy Díaz as the starting pitcher.
