The wait is over. On Saturday, April 1st, the Peruvian Women's League opened with the debut of Alianza Lima . The current two-time champion, under the guidance of new Colombian coach Jhon Ortiz, started the championship on the right foot: they beat Universidad San Martin 8-0 at the Ivan Elias Moreno stadium, and they are hopeful for another national title.
As a reminder, the 'intimas' couldn't host the 'santas' at the Alejandro Villanueva stadium, because on Saturday the first men's team of Alianza Lima will play against Cienciano in La Victoria for the Ligue 1. But the home advantage didn't influence the team, as they had no problems in Villa El Salvador.
From the start of the match, the team led by Jhon Ortiz took control of the game and the goals started to come naturally. In the 8th minute of the first half, Yomira Tacilla opened the scoring with a powerful right-footed shot.
Later, Tifani Molina (24'), scored twice (28' and 35'), and Sandy Dorador also scored a brace (28' and 45'+1), extending the lead to a resounding 6-0 by half-time.
In the second half, Alianza Lima maintained their dominance on the field, although they reduced the intensity a bit and could only score a couple more goals through Neidy Romero (54') and Molina in the final minute 90'+1. Thus, the blanquiazules earned their first three points in the tournament.
The fight continues
On the other hand, on Sunday the match of the week will be played: Universitario de Deportes faces Sporting Cristal. Two historic teams who reached the final hexagonal of the championship last year. It is worth noting that starting this year, all matches of the Women's League can be watched on Directv Sports and Nativa, a national option.
