José Rojas is happy with Chile’s passage to the Copa América final.

However, the joy is not complete, as in recent days he has become the target of criticism from the fans.

Such is the level of questioning that Rojas has been the inspiration for various memes that have flooded the social networks. In an interview with El Mercurio, he defends himself against the criticism.

"People sometimes have short-term memory, they forget about the good things one has done and highlight the negatives," he says in the newspaper.

“I have been the subject of memes and I do not understand why, but those things encourage me to keep fighting because nobody gave me anything. It was not easy to stand against Guerrero, Farfán, and Pizarro without having played minutes,” he says.

About his debut in the Copa América, the U defender admits he felt good despite the difficulties he had in marking Paolo Guerrero.

“I felt good. It was a very different game from the one against Uruguay, players with other characteristics like Guerrero, very complete. He is very difficult to mark,” he says.

Finally, he referred to the final on Saturday against Argentina, which could give Chile its first crown in the tournament.

“It is the most attractive match that we could have, with players of good quality. It will not be easy. Winning the Copa América is a dream,” he concludes.
