Inflation continues in Venezuela

Venezuela once again recorded the highest inflation in Latin America, according to the Venezuelan Finance Observatory (OVF), an independent body of the Nicolás Maduro government, the monthly rate reached 20.2% last month. In fact, the Central Bank of Venezuela lost USD 420 million in reserves in February, "the highest monthly figure since the new exchange system began in 2019".

"With a 11% increase in the price of the dollar in February, it is evident that a monthly inflation rate of 20.2% suggests that prices are overreacting to the devaluation of the bolívar," said the Venezuelan observatory.
