The 2023 Women's League is about to begin. The established date for the start of the Peruvian women's football tournament is Saturday, April 1. And, although the participating clubs do not yet know the order of their respective matches, the fixture draw will take place in the coming days.

For this edition, there are 14 teams that will compete for the title. Compared to last season, in which Alianza Lima's players were crowned champions for the second time, there are three new institutions: Defensores del Ilucán (Cajamarca), FBC MElgar (Arequipa), and Sporting Victoria (Loreto).

FBC Melgar (Arequipa) and Defensores del Ilucán (Cajamarca) achieved direct promotion after being champion and runner-up of the 2022 Copa Perú, respectively, while the third tenant in the highest category of Peruvian women's football secured their spot by defeating UTC (12th place in the 2022 Women's League) in a play-off match.

The remaining participants of the 2023 Women's League are Academia Cantolao (Lima), Alianza Lima (Lima), Atlético Trujillo (La Libertad), Ayacucho FC (Ayacucho), Carlos A. Mannucci (La Libertad), Deportivo Municipal (Lima), FC Killas (Lima), San Martín (Lima), Sporting Cristal (Lima), Universitario de Deportes (Lima), and Universidad César Vallejo (La Libertad).

On the other hand, the teams that were relegated from the first division were Sport Boys and UTC.
