In November of last year, the boxing world met the new king of middleweights, the Jalisco native Saul Alvarez, who defeated Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto, but also met a new "Canelo", much more mature and with a different mentality that made the difference and led him back to glory.

Álvarez, who starred in one of his best fights as a professional, made history by becoming the first Mexican boxer to win the super welterweight and middleweight world title in a night where he showed greater power, better technique and clear punching power that not only gave him the win but also the recognition of the public.

A champion who since he started in the world of gloves has worked with passion and dedication, who left the "traditional" life of a young person to pursue his goals.

An example of this is the night he defeated Matthew Hatton for the vacant CMB super welterweight world title. A tough fight that went the full twelve rounds, where the fighter from Jalisco took the victory by unanimous decision.

Six successful defenses and Saúl exposed his crown against the pound-for-pound best, Floyd Mayweather, who gave him his first defeat of his career.

Completely recovered from that episode, he faced Alfredo Angulo, Erislandy Lara and James Kirkland, in what would be his path to a new title opportunity.

The rest of the story, I think we all know... Saúl emerged victorious by unanimous decision against the Puerto Rican.

Now, it is clear that this idol of the boxing ring is at the top of the sport; however, he must now maintain that position and one of the challenges he has ahead is to face British boxer Amir Khan, on May 7th at the new T-Mobile Arena, in what is expected to be a war from start to finish where the champion will show why he is the middleweight CMB king.
