Federal Minimum Wage in USA: How much does the wage increase?

The federal minimum wage has been $7.25 per hour since 2009. To change this figure, approval from Congress and the president's signature is required, so it does not adjust automatically. From that year until today, it is the longest period that workers have gone without a wage increase.

Let's remember that the president of the United States, Joe Biden, along with some progressive Democrats, proposed raising the federal minimum wage to $15, but this failed in Congress in 2022.

On the other hand, there is an exception to the minimum wage for workers who receive tips like waiters. They can have a wage of $2.13 per hour.
