Without haste, Alajuelense defeated Herediano away.

Alajuelense thrashed Herediano 4-0 on Saturday in a match valid for the 7th round of the Costa Rica - Clausura Tournament 2023. Alexander López (14' 1st half, free kick), Yael López (22' 1st half), Aarón Suárez (14' 2nd half) and Ángel Tejeda (26' 2nd half) were the authors of Alajuelense's overwhelming victory at the Colleya Fonseca stadium.

Ángel Tejeda earned applause with his brilliant finish in the 26th minute of the second half. From the semicircle, the forward fired a hard shot straight into the goal, after receiving assistance from Freddy Góndola. The ball entered near the left post of the opposite goal.

Herediano came close to scoring in the 51st minute of the second half, but Anthony Contreras' shot crashed against one of the posts.

Leonel Moreira had a great performance. Alajuelense's goalkeeper was a protagonist against Herediano: he saved 6 shots.

Aarón Suárez also had a good performance. Alajuelense's midfielder scored 1 goal and attempted 2 shots.

It was a match that was stopped due to the high accumulation of fouls on the field. There were a large number of players booked: Yeltsin Tejeda, Alexander López, Kennedy Rocha, Keysher Fuller, Jefferson Brenes, Yael López, and Freddy Góndola. Adrián Chinchilla Chávez was the referee chosen for the match at the Colleya Fonseca stadium.

In the next round, Herediano will visit Cartaginés and Alajuelense will play at home against Municipal Grecia.

This way, the home team is in fifth place in the championship with 10 points, while the visitor, with 17, remains in the top part of the table.
