The Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) issued a statement to explain the surprising resignation.
José 'Chemo' del Solar was presented as the Director of the Youth Technical Unit of the Peruvian Football Federation, and one of his first decisions was to appoint Pablo Zegarra as the head coach of the Peruvian U-17 national team.
Flavio Maestri, who had been working with that category, decided to resign from his position due to "personal reasons," as announced by the FPF in a statement.
"This afternoon, Flavio Maestri, who had been serving as an assistant to Pablo Zegarra in the U-17 national team, spoke with José del Solar, Director of the Youth Technical Unit, informing him of his decision to resign from the position for personal reasons," the statement said.
