The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has reiterated its commitment to go ahead with the E3 video game fair, after IGN reported on the possible absence of the main manufacturers in the sector.

According to sources consulted by IGN, neither Xbox nor Sony nor Nintendo will be present at what is considered the main video game fair in the world, the usual stage for the most prominent innovations of companies in the sector.

After the 'Xbox & Bethesda Developer' event on January 25th, Microsoft confirmed its return to Los Angeles -the city where the E3 is held- for its "annual summer event", although it did not mention that it was the usual one held within the framework of the ESA fair.

Sony hasn't held a presentation event there for years and Nintendo has opted for its prepared broadcasts known as 'Direct'.

ReedPop, the company in charge of organizing this year's E3, assured IGN in a statement that "it does not take lightly the fact that an important cultural milestone is entrusted to it". "We have diligently worked with members of the ESA based on their feedback to create a new type of E3 that supports their goals and needs", they state.

This Wednesday, in a statement provided to IGN, the ESA did not mention the possible absences, but commented that "reviving a trade fair after a three-year hiatus and a global pandemic will always have its challenges", reiterating its "commitment to move forward with E3".

The ESA also referred to its partner ReedPop, which it said has "made great progress in remodeling the event and has received great support from companies in the industry of all sizes that are not only thinking about E3 2023, but also how E3 fits into marketing plans for 2024 and beyond".

Last July, the ESA promised to bring the industry back together to celebrate "a week of titanic AAA revelations" that will include "world premieres" and offer access to the "future of video games".

The E3 fair will return to the city of Los Angeles (USA) the second week of June 2023, four years after its last face-to-face event.
