Peruvian football clubs continue to strengthen their squads

Despite the fact that Peruvian football has not yet officially started, national clubs continue to strengthen themselves in both Liga 1 and Liga 2. This is the reason why a historic team currently in the Segunda División decided to reinforce itself with a player who won the championship with Alianza Lima and surprisingly wanted to change teams this season.

You can see more about it here.

This is about José Cotrina, a national midfielder who arrived at Alfonso Ugarte de Puno to compete in Liga 2 and try to secure a spot in the top category of national football. However, the 25-year-old player is remembered by the Alianza Lima fans because he won the national title a few years ago under Pablo Bengoechea.

The midfielder was part of Alianza Lima in 2017 when they won the Peruvian championship by winning both the Apertura and Clausura tournaments, ending a 10-year drought without a title. However, his time in Alianza Lima is now in the past and he is dedicated to Alfonso Ugarte.

José Cotrina also played for Universidad Técnica de Cajamarca (UTC), Unión Huaral, Carlos Mannucci, and last season he played for Carlos Stein. This means that his arrival at the Puno team will not be his first experience playing in the Segunda División, so he will soon seek to return to Liga 1 in order to take another step forward due to his age.

Finally, it is worth noting that José Cotrina is not the only former Alianza Lima player who has signed for Alfonso Ugarte de Puno. A few days ago, the club officially announced Gustavo Roverano as their new coach, who was also part of Alianza Lima and was training the Peru U-20 national team until a few months ago.
