Nothing stops Diego Elías. The Peruvian squash player, currently ranked number 5 in the world, was crowned champion in the JP Morgan Tournament, also known as the Champions Tournament, by defeating Egyptian Marwan ElShorbagy 3-0 in the final.

It was a convincing match for Diego Elías, who defeated the Egyptian 11-2, 11-6, and 11-4. The match lasted only 49 minutes for the 3-0 victory that speaks for itself.
Winning a Platinum Tournament is like winning a Grand Slam in tennis, and Diego Elías has won one of this level for the third time in his career. He has already done it in Qatar in 2021, the US Open 2022, and now the Champions Tournament.
“First of all, I'm super excited. I still can't believe it! It's like a dream come true. This tournament has always been my favorite. This is an incredible city, and it's always packed for all the matches. I can't believe I'm here!”, said the Peruvian excitedly.
Diego Elías is one of our high-performance athletes who ranks among the top players in the world in his discipline. Squash is not part of the Olympic circuit, which is why the Peruvian does not compete in the Olympic Games.
However, this year we will be able to see Elías at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, where he defends the gold medal he won in Lima 2019. He is a player that Peru always has for international tournaments.
