Gareth Bale was one of the best players in the recent history of Real Madrid. Although his last years were forgettable and he ended up signing for Los Angeles FC of MLS, nobody can erase the mark that the Welshman left at the Santiago Bernabeu. There is no doubt that he was very successful in football. And now, after hanging up his boots after playing in the 2022 Qatar World Cup, the 'Cardiff Express' is preparing to repeat his success in another sport that he is passionate about: golf.
As you read. The former Welsh international footballer from Real Madrid, who announced his retirement as a professional player on January 9, will compete next week in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am (USA) and fulfill his dream of playing on the PGA Tour, the most prestigious golf circuit.
He confirmed this himself, a golf enthusiast, on social media. The Pebble Beach Pro-Am will take place from February 2 to 5 on the Pebble Beach Golf Links, Monterey Peninsula Country Club, and Spyglass Hill Golf Club in California, United States.
"Delighted to announce that I will be playing in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am early next month! Let's go!", Bale writes on his Instagram account.
A passionate fan of this sport, Bale has a handicap of 2 and had replicas of three of his favorite par 3 holes built in his Cardiff residence: the 17th of TPC Sawgrass, the Postage Stamp of Royal Troon, and the 12th of Augusta National, home of the Masters.
The tournament will be played by 156 professionals and 156 amateurs. Bale will partner with a professional and play best ball for three days with the aim of making the cut, in which the top 25 teams will advance to the final round.
