A Badou Jack things didn't go as he wanted. His fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. was almost sealed, only the date of the fight was missing and the Mexican fighter got injured.
Obviously Jack didn't like the situation, but he also didn't want to be taken off the card. His team didn't want that either, so they looked for a new opponent for him. The chosen one was former champion Lucian Bute, known for giving good fights in the super middleweight division.
Now he has the opportunity to win a new championship and it will be a battle of talent and will. Bute also has the chance to reclaim the champion's throne. Jack, on the other hand, has a baby who is only a few days old at the time of this note and he needs to stay relevant and keep fighting to secure a good future for his daughter.
Who will leave the DC Armory as the champion?
CMB Statement
The super middleweight champion of the World Boxing Council, Badou Jack, and former world champion Lucian Bute, will face each other on April 30th at the DC Armory in Washington, D.C.
"I am prepared for this fight, Bute is a very tough fighter, so I will have to give my best to win. I have a lot of respect for him, but I won't let him take my belt, absolutely not. You will see a very tough fight."
"Bute is a much more dangerous fighter than Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., but I am ready for him. Bute's fight against De Gale was one of the best of last year. On April 30th, you will see another excellent fight and a new defeat for Bute," said the champion.
"Fighting for the WBC title is a great motivation for me. I feel good, I started training 6 weeks ago. I feel mentally and physically strong, I hope to become a champion on April 30th. I respect Jack, he is a great champion, a good fighter but on April 30th he will experience the power of my fists," Bute concluded.
