Universitario is getting ready to face Liga 1 2023 and the Copa Sudamericana. The crema team has renewed its squad, let go several players, and has signed names such as Emanuel Herrera, Horacio Calcaterra, Martín Pérez Guedes, and more. However, as part of their preseason, they have also arranged friendly matches with Peruvian teams and foreign rivals before starting the local tournament.
Prior to their debut in the Noche Crema, the merengues will face César Vallejo on Wednesday, January 4th, in the Noche Poeta 2023. In addition, according to journalist Gustavo Peralta from Líbero, the ‘U’ would have other matches scheduled with two Chilean clubs: Curicó Unido and Ñublense.

After facing Aucas in their presentation, Carlos Compagnucci's team will travel to Chile for the other two matches. The first team has already confirmed the match against the ‘U’; it will take place in the Noche Albirroja on Friday, January 13th at 5:00 p.m. (Peruvian time); while Ñublense has not yet set the date for the match against the student team.
