Gerard Piqué planning a comeback to football

The Barcelona player had retired in November of last year, but he is reportedly planning to return through a club he knows very well, although it won't be easy.

A surprise. Spanish player Gerard Piqué is reportedly planning to return to football, despite announcing his retirement in November of last year. However, he is considering a return to the Second Division, specifically to the club that he owns, Andorra.

The news was published in the Spanish website Relevo de España, which announced this idea that the player has. But, even though it's a hope to see him back on the field, there are complications.

One of them is related to the economic aspect of LaLiga in Spain, as the player can self-contract despite being the owner, but it is very complicated due to two details. One of them is the salary, as Piqué was close to earning 30 million euros in the last season, a figure that would prevent Andorra from being able to pay him the minimum salary of the Second Division.

If this were to happen, LaLiga would have to decide how much they value him, so he would have to go through a LaLiga Valuation Committee that would assess the salary cap of the team, a situation that could cost the club to have a player of this value.

The second issue is that, if the club were to make an extra effort despite the salary cap, it would be, according to Relevo, "laborious and expensive." They point out that if Piqué wants to be contracted, he would have to carry out procedures that could even bring problems, such as a capital increase, which would not be favorable for him due to the new regulations of LaLiga.

If they were to explore another option, it would be through new income. "A sponsorship that raises the salary cap of the club. By making these two movements, which we repeat, are not simple... Piqué could play for his Andorra," the website states.
