While in Saudi Arabia fans of Al Nassr surrendered to Cristiano Ronaldo, in Porto Alegre Gremio fans did the same with Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan striker signed with the Brazilian team until December 2024 and today he had his first show of affection upon arriving in Brazilian soil for his new sporting challenge.
It all started with the spectacular reception at Salgado Filho International Airport in Porto Alegre, where 'Torcedores' of 'Tricolor' were waiting from the early hours of the morning for the arrival of the former Liverpool player. When he descended on Brazilian territory, there was no shortage of applause and the unmistakable affection of the garoto fan.
It didn't take long for Luis Suarez to have his own official song, which was sung by Gremio fans: 'Luis Suarez é matador'. As he advanced towards his destination, the Uruguayan received affectionate gestures at every step.
As we remember, on December 31st it was confirmed that Luis Suarez would play for Gremio until 2024, with the aim of returning to Brasileirao in style and restoring the enthusiasm of the 'Immortal' fans. Now that he has arrived in the country with his family, they hope that this new stage with the 'Pistolero' upfront begins as soon as possible.
After attending to all the fans, the former Atletico Madrid player went to Gremio's facilities for his first training session with his new teammates. Under the guidance of Renato Gaucho, his new coach, Suarez began this adventure in Porto Alegre.
When will Luis Suarez's presentation in Gremio be?
Luis Suarez's presentation is scheduled for Wednesday, January 4th. 'Tricolor' has already announced that more than 26,000 tickets have been sold for the event, which will take place at the Arena do Gremio stadium. The club hopes to reach a figure of 40,000 fans for tomorrow.
After having been promoted to Brasileirao after their last season in Serie B, Gremio will have to play the Recopa Gaucha against São Luiz on Tuesday, January 17th. On that day, Suarez will be able to make his official debut with his new team. If not, it could be on January 21st against Caxias in the Copa Gaucha.
