The North Carolina Tar Heels released tough news right before kickoff of the Holiday Bowl game against Oregon, with the announcement that senior wide-receiver Antoine Green would be available in an “emergency situation only.”
The reason is linked to a lower body injury for Green, presenting a sizable hole in UNC’s wideout depth. This news delivered a significant blow to the offense, needing to now count on some of the younger guys.
Green has been a bright spot for North Carolina this season, playing Robin in the dynamic duo he and Josh Downs have created. The senior appeared in nine games, finishing with 43 catches, 798 yards and seven touchdowns.
Already big underdogs in this Holiday Bowl game, it will be interesting to see how North Carolina fills Green’s cleats.
