With the arrival of the end-of-year holidays, thefts in their various modalities increase. Even thieves devise alibis to 'hunt' people who will end up empty-handed. A TikTok user posted a video exposing the latest scam, targeting men as potential victims.
According to the account 'The news guy', bands that work well-organized roam outside supermarkets, malls, and various shopping centers.
These bands have a lady who is used as bait to strip their victims of their belongings. How so? It turns out that when a male person takes a taxi, a lady approaches him proposing to share the journey, with the excuse that her destination "is on the same route" and with the aim of "paying half the fare."
By accepting the shared trip, the man is automatically followed by the woman's accomplices. When the taxi stops at a red light, the woman starts asking for help, claiming to be a victim of kidnapping or rape. That's when the accomplices come to "offer help" and end up beating the alleged aggressor until they rob him of his shopping bags.
According to the TikTok content creator, several taxi drivers who follow him on the digital platform have reported this mode of operation in the world of crime. Likewise, in the comments, there were users who shared similar experiences.
"They tried to do the same thing to me, I accepted and told her to go alone and I would wait for another taxi... A few blocks later, she got off and argued with the taxi driver," "The same thing happened to me. Fortunately, I got out of the car because it seemed strange to me," "Almost the same thing happened to me a year ago, and to make sure, they told me they live near my house, not to distrust, but I said 'no, thanks'," "I had the 'your tire is flat' scheme pulled on me, they shouted at me at every block, I parked the car and you know the rest...," "The same thing happened to me, a girl got into the taxi in front of us and we went with her, but thank God nothing bad happened to us."
