The former coach of the Peruvian National Soccer Team, Ricardo Gareca, talked about the development and outcome of what the 2022 Qatar World Cup was and confessed that the games of the ultimate soccer celebration did not meet his expectations.
In an interview for the Youtube channel of journalist Horacio Zimmermann, the "Tigre" argued that there was no predominant playing style or ideology that prevailed in the World Cup, despite the thrilling final between Argentina and France that ended with Argentina's victory in the penalty shootout.
"I don't think it was a great level in the World Cup, because of a style, a way of playing and a methodology. The two most serious teams arrived with a high degree and responsibility in both areas. I didn't like the level I saw in the World Cup very much", he explained.
Happy for Argentina
However, the former coach of the Peruvian team did not hesitate to express his joy for the consecration of his country, Argentina, and added that it is very positive that the World Cup has returned to South America. Remember that Brazil was the last country on the continent to win the World Cup in 2002.
"Above all, the most important thing about the World Cup is that a South American team, Argentina, has won, representing South American football in the best way", he said.
