Ángel Correa and Thiago Almada will fulfill their dream of being part of the Argentina national team at a World Cup. Both players were called up by coach Lionel Scaloni as replacements for Nicolás González and Joaquín Correa, and they traveled to Qatar early Friday morning after receiving an impressive farewell at Ezeiza airport.
Dozens of 'Albiceleste' fans showed their affection to Ángel and Thiago from the moment they arrived. The Atlético de Madrid and Atlanta United players were accompanied by a sea of people through the corridors, motivating them to make good performances in the World Cup.

It was total madness at Ezeiza. Fans, at one point, chanted "we will return, we will return, we will return again, we will be champions again, like in '86", while Correa and Almada were also besieged by journalists for some statements.
"It took me by surprise, I was enjoying my time with my family and they called me, so now I'm going to Qatar with a huge dream. I was with my grandmothers, my friends, my sisters, my nieces and my daughters. The news brought me great happiness," expressed an emotional Correa.
Almada also shared his joy at being called up. "It's the happiest day of my life for me and my family. It's for everything we fought for, that we live day by day, so very happy," he said.
Rivals and schedule for Argentina in the World Cup
The Argentina national team, led by Lionel Messi and World Cup champions in 1978 and 1986, will make their debut in Group C of Qatar 2022 against Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, November 22. Their next opponents will be Mexico (Saturday, November 26) and Poland (Wednesday, November 30).
