The Summer Game Fest has nothing to fear from the return of E3, according to its organizer.

Game journalist and organizer of the Summer Game Fest and The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley, has shared his impressions about the return of E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) and has indicated that he does not see it as a competition for his gaming event.

He expressed his thoughts in an interview with VideoGames.si, where he admitted to being curious about where editors will choose to present their revelations next year, and briefly commented on what will happen in the upcoming edition of the awards he organizes.

Just one month before the celebration of the Game Awards 2022, which will take place on December 8, Geoff Keighley highlighted being "very excited" about some of the points included in the program, despite it being designed to have a shorter duration as he explained.

According to what he conveyed in the interview, the grand awards ceremony, in which there will be "more than 50 video games involved," will be broadcast live to a selected audience. Around 1,000 people will be in the room while the program is being broadcasted and they will be able to react live to the announcements and awards.

"It will be the most cinematic spectacle the team has ever done, with significantly greater theatricalization and backed by a live orchestra," added Keighley.

On the other hand, he assured that he is "very focused" on the upcoming edition of the annual video game event, Summer Game Fest, and at the same time, he feels "very good" thanks to the momentum behind what he is creating with all his partners.

Regarding the event he organizes, the journalist admitted to not announcing many details about what they will do for 2023, but he assured that "their plans will only grow."

These words come after four years since the last E3, as the 2020 and 2021 editions were canceled due to the pandemic, and the 2021 event was exclusively held in a digital format.

With the confirmation of the return of this event for next year, rumors have emerged about possible tensions between both video game conferences.

In this regard, Keighley has pointed out that there is a lot of anticipation for what ReedPop, the new organizer of E3, will do with the video game gathering in next year's edition.

Likewise, he has suggested that E3 is not a competition, that it is a renowned event, and that, in his opinion, it has to address questions such as what experience gaming fans will have or what this gathering will actually consist of.

Thus, the organizer of the Summer Game Fest has downplayed the importance of comparisons between both events and emphasized the commitment they maintain from the Summer Game Fest to create something "truly big" during the summer by collaborating with game companies.

"This is a time of year. People use the E3 brand because we have known it for 20 years, but for me, they are just video game news that happens in June," Keighley concluded.
