¡National pride! Peru achieves 37 medals in the 2022 Pan American School Chess Championship.

Pride of the Nation!

The Peruvian national selection once again glorifies our country, this time at the XI All-American Chess School Championship, organized by the Chess Federation of the Americas (CCA) and the Bolivian Chess Federation, where Peru won 37 medals (7 gold, 7 silver, and 5 bronze).

The competition took place from October 27 to November 2, in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, bringing together the best chess players in the region in both the absolute and women's categories, from Sub-07 to Sub-17. According to the nine-tower Swiss system.

The national team, consisting of over 150 members, conquered the first place among all participating countries. The selection won 19 medals in the nine rounds of the Classical modality and 18 medals (5 gold, 8 silver, and 5 bronze) in the Blitz modality.

Bolivia and Paraguay obtained the second and third place, respectively. The competition featured players from powerhouse countries in the sport such as Cuba, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, and Canada.

MEDALS FOR APURÍMAC, AYACUCHO

The team was made up of young chess players from various regions such as Apurímac, Ayacucho, Cusco, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Lima, and Piura. Among them, the participation of the world champions of Panama 2021 and the team runners-up in Dubai 2020 stands out.

In recent years, Peru has gained worldwide recognition with triumphs in different high-level competitions. These young world contenders are part of a breeding ground that constantly improves with the guidance of professionals who are shaping the new generation of chess players.

After this triumph in the Pan American tournament, the national representatives will prepare for the School World Championship to be held in Greece in May 2023.
