Just like in the first half, the Mexican national team came out strong in the second half against Iraq. Thus, the Aztec team scored the 2-0 in the friendly match being played at the Municipal Montilivi Stadium.
In the 48th minute, Uriel Antuna projected himself down the right flank and, before entering the area, sent a cross. Then, Rogelio Funes Mori anticipated the defender and scored the second goal for the team led by Gerardo Martino.
It is worth noting that the first goal for the Mexican team was scored by Alexis Vega in the 3rd minute. On the other hand, after the match against Iraq, the 'Tri' will face Sweden and then focus on the World Cup.
It is important to mention that the Mexican national team will debut on November 22 in Group C against Poland. After four days, they will clash against Argentina and close against Saudi Arabia.
Mexico vs. Iraq: preview
The 'Tricolor' has started the final phase of preparation for the World Cup. For this, the team led by Gerardo Martino is already training in Spain. On the eve of the first of the two rehearsal matches (the other will be against Sweden), the Argentine coach gave clues about the 26-man squad that will go to the tournament.
It is known that Jesús Corona is ruled out. While Jesús Angulo, Erick Sánchez, Roberto Alvarado, and Santiago Giménez would be the others left out. Meanwhile, Raúl Jiménez has great chances of making it into the squad. The truth is that Martino has until November 14 to make important decisions.
On the other hand, Iraq is not in Qatar 2022, but they will take advantage of these previous dates to make moves. In fact, the Asian team will face two World Cup teams: Ecuador and Costa Rica. Later on, another match against Venezuela is scheduled. All of this with a view to the Gulf Cup dispute in January 2023.
