On February 13 of this year, Melgar and Sporting Cristal faced each other in the second matchday of the Torneo Apertura. It's important to note that the match was played at the Estadio Alberto Gallardo and not at Estadio Nacional, as it will be in the second semifinal. However, the celeste fans still put pressure on the opposing team, just like they will on Sunday.

Astonishingly, that match ended in a 2-2 draw, as many considered Sporting Cristal as the favorite. Melgar took the lead at 14' with a goal from Bernardo Cuesta, but Christofer Gonzáles equalized at 28'. In the 53rd minute, Martín Pérez Guedes once again put Melgar ahead, and in the 81st minute, Leandro Sosa sealed the final score.

The match was intense, and in the 90+1' minute, Alejandro Hohberg and Jean Pierre Archimbaud were sent off. Despite that, Sporting Cristal got their revenge in Arequipa and defeated Melgar 1-0.

Finally, the second leg will take place on Sunday, November 6, at 15:00. It's worth mentioning that there is no away goal rule, but goal difference will be considered.
