Halland Province is being overshadowed by Haaland
"We are Halland, he is Haaland. The popularity of this football phenomenon is drowning our online presence," said the director of tourism for Halland Province.
The beautiful province of Halland in Sweden has a problem, and that problem has a name: Erling Haaland. Yes, unintentionally, the Manchester City striker is harming this Swedish region. Simply by typing "Halland" into the Google search engine, the portal replies: "Did you mean Haaland?" And so, the "problem" for Halland Province begins.
"We are Halland, he is Haaland. The popularity of this football phenomenon is drowning our online presence," said Jimmy Sandberg, director of tourism for the region of Halland, tired of Google "burying their land" because of the Manchester City striker.
"To our despair, all our efforts to promote Halland have disappeared. If nothing is done, we fear that our beloved region will be at risk of becoming a forgotten Atlantis, a place known only in history and ancient scriptures," Sandberg added.
Halland (with 300,000 inhabitants) is not known for its goals, but for its beaches. Just one letter mistake affects the province's tourism plan. However, the same spelling mistake has worked in favor of the region (at times). In fact, Sandberg himself plans to invite Haaland to the beaches of Halland, as he claims that many Norwegians often go there on vacation and that the Swedish striker will "feel at home".
