Brazilian football gem scores his first professional goal in the 3-1 victory over Athletico Paranaense
The great pearl of Palmeiras, young forward Endrick, scored his first professional goals in the 3-1 victory on Tuesday over Athletico Paranaense, a win that puts the Sao Paulo team one step away from the Brasileirao title.
The team led by Portuguese manager Abel Ferreira can win their eleventh league title on Wednesday, provided that Internacional (currently third with 61 points) and Corinthians (fourth with 57 points and one game less) do not win against Ceará and Fluminense, respectively.
The Palmeiras, champions of the 2020 and 2021 Copa Libertadores, have 74 points, so a draw or a loss by Internacional or Corinthians would make them unreachable with four matchdays remaining.
If either of the two teams manages to equalize them in points, the advantage goes to Palmeiras for having more victories.
Scoring debut
The night to dream of the title, which would consolidate Ferreira's team as the most successful in the Brasileirao, was emotional, not only because Endrick opened his account with the goals, but also because the visitors started the match losing.
In the equalizing goal (59), the great promise disputed goal authorship with Gustavo Scarpa, as it was not clear who touched the ball before it crossed the line, although the 'Verdão' officially attributed it to the young player.
According to local press, Endrick, who is being analyzed by major European clubs, became the youngest player to score for Palmeiras at the age of 16 years and 96 days.
However, the winning goal (70) was very clear: the striker celebrated when he headed in a cross from Roni on the left wing of the Arena da Baixada in Curitiba.
Paraguayan defender Gustavo Gómez (76) sealed the victory with a powerful header from a corner, burying the joy of the home team, who fielded a reserve squad.
The black and red forces are focused on the Libertadores final against Flamengo on Saturday in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
Defender Matheus Felipe opened the scoring in the 30th minute for Luiz Felipe Scolari's team, who are currently sixth and played with ten men from the 60th minute due to the expulsion of Argentine winger Tomás Cuello.
