Controversy over the dubbing of Bayonetta 3

After several days of controversy over the dubbing of Bayonetta 3, Hellena Taylor's most recent response could be the end of the problem. "I feel the need to defend myself and my reputation in the industry," wrote the voice actress on Twitter.

As you may recall, Hellena Taylor is the voice actress who brought Bayonetta to life in the original games, but she will not reprise the role for the upcoming installment. Instead, she asked fans to sabotage the sale of the video game, as she had been offered $4,000 for the job. However, a report revealed that it would have been $15,000.

Now, Taylor has rectified and detailed the figures offered to her by the developer. She added that "there were no multiple negotiations," unlike what sources close to Platinum reported.

"Their initial offer was too low. That offer was $10,000 in total," Taylor wrote on her Twitter account. "So I wrote to Hideki Kamiya in Japanese, asking him for what I'm worth. (...) Then he offered me $5,000 more. So I refused to voice the game."

"I had no news from them for 11 months. Then they offered me a flat fee to voice some lines for $4,000," the actress said.

Taylor also asserts that for Bayonetta 1 and 2, she was paid low wages compared to the franchise's earnings.

The controversy has had several exchanges of statements, with comments from both Taylor and Bayonetta creator Hideki Kamiya, current Bayonetta interpreter Jennifer Hale, and the Japanese studio PlatinumGames.
