Universitario de Deportes confirmed the resumption of the match against Sport Huancayo, after the sensitive death of a fan of the merengue squad, at the Monumental stadium. In that sense, the student club reaffirmed that the match for matchday 18 of the Clausura Tournament will restart this Monday at 8 pm, although it will not have the presence of the public.
Despite the intention of the merengue institution, the authorities did not provide the guarantees for the opening of the stands at the Monumental stadium, so the match between merengues and the 'Rojo Matador' will have to be played behind closed doors.
It is worth mentioning that the Universitario vs. Sport Huancayo was suspended around the 30th minute of the first half, so only the remaining minutes of the match will be played, with Carlos Compagnucci's team winning 1-0 thanks to a goal by Piero Quispe.
The merengues hope to take the three points from the match to secure their presence in the Copa Sudamericana. However, the visitors want to write their name in the Libertadores, so they will do their best not to leave the colossus of Ate empty-handed.
