Vanessa Martin, sister of Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin, denied her son's claim that his famous uncle sexually assaulted him, causing a series of legal proceedings between them for several months.
The objection was provided this Wednesday by José Andreu Fuentes, one of Ricky Martin's three lawyers, after the famous singer's sister presented text messages from her son to a judge in the Court of First Instance of San Juan.
The messages written by Dennis Yadiel Sánchez Martin led Judge Maranyeli Colón Requejo to deny the request for a protection order under the Victims of Sexual Assault Violence Law requested by Sánchez Martin.
"It was demonstrated through texts that the boy had been trying to create a story to harm Ricky and through texts that he himself sent to his mother," said Andréu in an interview with Telemundo's program "Día a Día".
Andréu specified that Vanessa Martin "provided the texts and an affidavit with those texts" as part of the evidence presented to the Court of First Instance.
"She feels very sad about this situation, but she knows the problems her son is facing and her interest is to see how she can help her son so that he does not get involved in more problems," added the lawyer.
Andréu explained that it is unknown "if someone is behind the boy, causing him problems, and what his mother wants is to protect him from that."
Ricky Martin's legal representatives presented strong evidence this Tuesday, which allegedly demonstrated before the court a pattern of erratic behavior and falsehoods that Sánchez established against his uncle. Due to this, the judge denied the request for a protection order.
Sánchez Martin initially filed a sexual assault complaint against his uncle in early September, two days after Ricky Martin filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit for extortion, damages, and prejudice against him. The lawsuits in court began when Sánchez obtained a domestic violence protection order against the singer, a case that was dismissed in July at the request of the plaintiff himself.
The case will continue with a next hearing on November 10th, where it will be evaluated if the protection order granted by the court to Ricky Martin against his nephew remains in force and subsequently the lawsuit for extortion and defamation.
