Sergio García leaves Espanyol
Sergio García has ceased to be a player of Espanyol. The forward and the blanquiazul entity have reached an agreement for Sergio to leave the discipline of the perico team and head to the Qatari league. He will sign for Al-Rayyan for the next two seasons, plus an optional one.
Sergio García leaves approximately 1.5 million euros in the club's coffers but leaves a difficult void to fill in the blanquiazul locker room, as he has scored 41 goals with the Espanyol shirt in five seasons. The perico club has issued a statement to explain the departure of the captain and has wanted to explain that "as stated in multiple public statements by the president of RCD Espanyol, Joan Collet, the club has respected the agreement reached in the last renewal of the player and has shown sensitivity to the scorer's desire to start this new phase away from Barcelona. After five seasons at RCD Espanyol, the until now blanquiazul captain has decided to embark on a new professional adventure. Sergio García's time as an espanyolista player has been a very successful five years, during which the Buen Pastor forward has enjoyed the esteem and support of all the club's bodies. It will also be like this in the moment he has decided to start his last stage as a player in Qatar".
The forward and the president Joan Collet will offer a press conference tomorrow (12:30) at the Auditorium of the Power8 Stadium, where they will specify and explain the details of his farewell.
