Jorge Masvidal still has his eyes on UFC gold.

Since their paths first crossed in 2019, Leon Edwards and Jorge Masvidal have seemingly been destined to fight. The initial incident, which led to the infamous 'three-piece and a soda' line synonymous with Masvidal's meteoric rise, kicked off a three-and-a-half-year feud that shows no signs of fading away.

Masvidal was the next big thing in 2019, with newfound fame, the Miami native wouldn't have to fight against the relatively unknown Edwards, but would be presented with lucrative fights against the likes of Nate Diaz.

However, times have changed, Edward is currently the reigning 170-pounder after dethroning Kamaru Usman in September and now everyone wants a piece.

After the big surprise, many of the top welterweights made their case for a title shot, and Masvidal has been no different. Speaking to MMAFighting, Masvidal provocatively said how he believes Edwards is backing out of their fight.

"Leon is cooling off a bit. I don't know what it is, he doesn't want to lose to me again in England, so he's been ignoring my phone calls. Every time I talk to a reporter or someone, they're always talking about this, always talking about me against Leon in England."

"Leon, step up, brother. You begged and cried and did all this nonsense before when I was fighting for titles. Now that you have the belt, let's go."

"And I never dodged this motherfucker, because when I wasn't fighting Leon, I was fighting the guy who has the belt and then I fought the guy who's No.1. So if Leon wants it, I'm here, man."
