PUEBLA -- The first leg of the quarterfinals between Puebla and América suffered a thirty-minute delay due to the rain in the capital of Puebla.
Through a Twitter message, the Liga MX announced that "due to the weather conditions in the city of Puebla, the match between Puebla and América will start at 7:30 PM."
The rain began to fall at 5:30 PM and around 6:00 PM the field showed the effects of the torrential downpour, creating puddles on the playing surface.
The América team enters this round as the favorite to advance based on their performance during the regular season, finishing in first place with 38 goals scored.
Meanwhile, Nicolás Larcamón and his team reached this stage after defeating Chivas in the repechage, reaching the penalty shootout to secure their spot in the Fiesta Grande.
The América coach, Fernando Ortiz, has full confidence in the quality of his team to face the Liguilla and ahead of the quarterfinal series against Puebla, the Argentine stated that he has the best squad in the Liga MX to pursue the long-awaited fourteenth championship for América.
"I told the guys and I reiterate that what happened is in the past, we prepared ourselves to be in the top positions, we achieved our objective and now it's another goal to try to become champions. The squad is the best I have ever had, the best squad in the league, and I try to tell the guys that whoever plays must defend their position because there are other teammates who have the possibility to play, and I have everyone committed to such a fundamental part like the Liguilla," commented Fernando Ortiz.
The second leg of this quarterfinal match will take place at 7:00 PM at the Azteca Stadium.
