Peruvian Delegation at the 2022 South American Games in Asunción

The Peruvian delegation has won a total of ten medals at the 2022 South American Games in Asunción, entering its fourth day of competition. Notable gold medals include Deyvid Tuesta in skateboarding and María Luisa Doig, who on Monday night reached the top of the podium in fencing.

María Luisa Doig gave her best performance to give Peru its second gold medal at the South American Games, held in the capital of Paraguay. The national athlete defeated the favorite, Clara Di Tella from Argentina. On the same day, Shoely Mego in weightlifting, Mariano Wong in karate (Kata discipline), and the badminton team also added three silver medals to the medal tally.

Additionally, swimmer Alexia Sotomayor won a bronze medal in the 100-meter backstroke, her second personal distinction in the competition, as she previously placed third in the 50-meter backstroke on the previous Sunday.

On the other hand, the rowing team composed of Valeria, Alessia Palacios, Adriana Sanguinetti, and Pamela Noya also secured a bronze medal in the four pairs of short oars category, just like karateka Ingrid Aranda, who also achieved bronze in the individual female Kata discipline, and diver Jesús Liranzo, who placed third in the 3-meter springboard.

PARTICIPATING COUNTRIES

The South American Games are taking place until October 15 in Paraguay, with 15 countries competing in 53 sports disciplines. The participating delegations are: Argentina, Aruba, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Curaçao, Ecuador, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
