Sony plans to have two million units of their new PlayStation VR 2 virtual reality headset ready by March next year, as part of the company's plans to launch this device in early 2023.

The second generation of its virtual reality headset will arrive in the first months of 2023 accompanied by 20 first-party and third-party video games. While waiting for Sony to confirm the price and finalize a release date, the company has already started production.

The mass production of this headset began in September and will be adjusted as the launch approaches, as shared by Bloomberg sources familiar with the matter.

However, the goal is to have two million units manufactured by March 2023, in line with Sony's more ambitious plans for this second generation, which will not support games from the original PlayStation VR headset.

The new headset has "much more advanced features" than those offered by PS VR, "such as a completely new controller with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, inside-out tracking, eye tracking, 3D audio, and 4K HDR", as already announced by Hideaki Nishino, Senior Vice President of Platform Experience.
